Professional Artistic Growth Made Accessible

Professional Artistic Growth Made Accessible is a one-year community partnership project I am currently working on with Outsiders and Others gallery in Vancouver. This 2022 project provides free professional development opportunities for Vancouver artists with lived experience of mental health and/or substance use issues, including:

  • Three workshops co-facilitated by myself and Yuri Arajs, Director and Curator of Outsiders and Others.
  • Several one-on-one artists consultations provided by Yuri Arajs.
  • Two exhibitions at Outsiders and Others co-curated by Yuri Arajs and myself.

This project is funded by the Consumer Initiative Fund, a unique Vancouver Coastal Health program that funds and supports Vancouver-based projects that are proposed, managed, and led by people with lived experience of mental health and/or substance use issues.

Navigating the Artist Life

Navigating the Artist Life was a free 10-session virtual sharing and discussion group I facilitated between May and July 2021 for Vancouver artists with lived experience of mental health and/or substance use issues. This group was an opportunity for visual artists to come together to support one another in their creative life and pursuits. Sessions included reflective exercises and sharing of ideas, strategies, and resources to help group members find effective ways of navigating many of the challenges faced by artists.

This project was funded by the Consumer Initiative Fund.
